NCTCOG Announces $58.6M in Zero Emission Vehicle Funding - ZeroMission

ZeroMission welcomes the latest and highly significant announcement from the North Central Texas Council of Governments (NCTCOG). Up to $58.6 million in rebate funding is now available to accelerate the transition from internal combustion engine (ICE) commercial vehicles to zero emission Class 6 and 7 vehicles.

Through the North Texas Zero Emission Vehicle (NTxZEV) Call for Projects (CFP), fleets across the region can now access substantial financial support to replace diesel and petrol trucks with battery electric or hydrogen fuel cell electric vehicles, along with eligible charging or hydrogen fueling infrastructure.

This is the kind of ambitious and practical investment that will move the U.S. fleet sector forward, reducing emissions, improving operational efficiency and helping organisations unlock long term cost savings.

What the Funding Covers

The NTxZEV programme offers rebates for:

1. Zero Emission Vehicle Replacement

  • Class 6 and Class 7 fleet vehicles

  • Battery electric or hydrogen fuel cell electric options

  • Support for full replacement of qualifying ICE vehicles

2. Supporting Infrastructure

  • Charging infrastructure for battery electric vehicles

  • Hydrogen fueling infrastructure for hydrogen vehicles

  • Installation and site upgrades required for project delivery

NCTCOG has opened applications and encourages a wide range of fleet operators including public, private and nonprofit organisations to apply.

Why This Matters for the U.S. Fleet Transition

For many organisations, fleet electrification is no longer a question of if, but how quickly it can be done while maintaining operational continuity.

This funding directly tackles the biggest barriers:

  • Upfront vehicle cost

  • Infrastructure complexity

  • Integration into existing mixed fuel operations

With strong rebate incentives and infrastructure support, fleets can transition faster and with greater confidence.

ZeroMission’s Perspective: Funding Alone Is Not Enough. Fleet Intelligence Is the Missing Link

At ZeroMission, we know that successful fleet decarbonisation requires more than purchasing new vehicles. Fleets need:

  • Data driven scenario modelling

  • Digital twin simulations

  • Operational optimisation

  • Charging strategy design

  • Lifecycle cost analysis

  • Mixed fuel fleet planning

  • Predictive maintenance insights

This is where many organisations struggle, especially when scaling from pilot programmes to full fleet deployment.

Our éxō Fleet Intelligence Platform and FleetOps Advisory Services ensure fleets make the right decisions from day one:

  • The right vehicles for the job

  • The right charging or hydrogen infrastructure at the right locations

  • The right operational design to keep routes efficient

  • The right financial modelling to justify investment to leadership

Funding accelerates adoption. Intelligence ensures long lasting success.

How ZeroMission Can Support NTxZEV Applicants

We work with fleets across the U.S., UK, Ireland and Europe to plan transitions, secure funding and implement practical zero emission strategies.

For organisations considering applying for NTxZEV funding, ZeroMission can assist with:

✔️ Fleet readiness assessments

✔️ Charging and hydrogen infrastructure modelling

✔️ Operational impact analysis

✔️ Route and depot digital twin design

✔️ Total cost of ownership and ROI modelling

✔️ Application support and technical documentation

Our mission is simple.
Make every mile smarter, cleaner and more efficient.

A Step Forward for Texas and a Sign of What Is Coming Nationwide

The NCTCOG’s $58.6 million commitment is more than a regional initiative. It is part of a wider momentum across the U.S. that is accelerating the shift toward cleaner, modern fleets.

Texas fleets now have a rare opportunity to lead.

ZeroMission is ready to support operators as they navigate this transition and ensure that funding is used effectively, operations are optimised and long term sustainability goals are achieved with confidence.
